After the Hudaybiyyah peace treaty, when the Prophet returned to Madinah, a delegation of Jews from Khyber came to Madinah in Muharram 7 AH and met a famous magician Labid bin Asim who belonged to the tribe of Bani Zariq of Ansar. They said to him, “You know what Muhammad did to us.” We tried to cast a spell on them.
But no success. Now we have come to you. Because you are a greater magician than we are. Here, these three nobles are present. Accept them and cast a spell on Muhammad. At that time a Jewish boy was a servant of the Holy Prophet. By conspiring with this, they got a piece of the Holy Prophet’s comb in which his hair was blessed. The same hair and comb teeth were enchanted. In some traditions it is said that Labid ibn Asim himself practiced magic, and in others it is said that his sisters were new magicians. He had them do magic. In either case, whatever the case may be, Labid placed the two in a sheath of a male palm-leaf and pressed it under a rock at the bottom of the well called Zarwan or Dhi Arwan of Bani Zariq. The effect of this magic on the Prophet took a whole year.
In the second half of the year some mood swings began to be felt, the last forty days being harsh and the last three days more severe. But the greatest effect of this on the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was that you were mingling, thinking about a task that he had done but not doing, thinking about your wives that you had them. Gone but not gone, and sometimes you even doubted your gaze. That he saw something but did not see it. All of these effects are limited to you, even if other people do not even know what is happening to you. As for his status as a prophet, there was no interruption in his duties.
There is no tradition that in this age you have forgotten any verse of the Qur’an, or you have misread any verse, or there has been any difference in your teachings in your companions and in your sermons and sermons. , Or any such word you have presented as a revelation. Finally one day he was with Hazrat Ayesha when he repeatedly prayed to Allah Almighty. In that state I fell asleep or became drowsy and then woke up and said to Hazrat Ayesha that he had told me what I used to ask my Lord. Hazrat Ayesha (RA) asked, “What is that?” He said two men came to me. One was towards Sarhana and the other towards Payanti. One asked what happened to them? The other replied that they were bewitched. He asked, “Who did what?”
Which is now given by Labid bin Asim. Asked what’s in it? The one who now gave the comb and the hair inside the cover of a male palm bark, asked where is he? He replied that the well of Bani Zariq is under the rock of Dhi Arwan. Asked what to do now? The water from the well should be drained and then it should be taken out from under the rock. After that, the Prophet sent Hazrat Ali (RA), Hazrat Ammar Bin Ya Sir (RA) and Hazrat Zubair (RA). He was joined by Jubayr ibn Ayas al-Zarqi and Qais ibn Muhsin al-Zarqi. Later, the Holy Prophet himself reached there with some companions. The water was removed and the cover was removed. There were knots in a tent with a comb and hair in it. And there was a thin layer of wax with needles stuck in it.
Gabriel came and said that you should read Mu’adh three. So you would recite one verse at a time and with it one knot would be untied and one needle would be taken out of the thin one. As soon as they reached the end, all the knots dissolved. All the needles came out. And you got out of the magic and it was as if someone was tied up, then it opened. After that you called Labid and questioned him. He confessed his guilt and you left him, because you never took revenge on anyone for your caste. Not only that, but you also refused to discuss the matter saying that Allah has healed me and now I do not want to incite people against anyone. This is the whole story of this magic. There is nothing wrong with that.
Personally, if you could be injured. As in the battle of Uhud, if you could fall off a horse and get hurt. As is proved by the ahaadeeth, if you could bite a scorpion, as has been narrated in some other ahaadeeth, and none of the thighs contradicts the protection which Allah has given you as a prophet. Promised So you could be sick of the effect of magic on your personality. The fact that magic can have an effect on a prophet is also proved by the Qur’an. As stated in the Quran.
In Babylon, people used to learn magic from Harut and Marut that would separate husband and wife. It was also a psychological effect, and obviously people would not have been able to buy it if they had not experienced the success of the process. Undoubtedly, it is true that magic, like the bullet of a gun and the bomb dropped from an airplane, cannot be effective without the permission of Allah. But to deny the existence of something that has been in human experience and observation for thousands of years is just a stubbornness
