Going to his wife on Friday

Ghusl on Jumu’ah is a Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It is mustahab to wear clean clothes and apply perfume and there is no difference in its mustahabb. He should take care of cleanliness and purity as much as possible and apply the oil and fragrance available in his house.

Then he should go out of the house for prayers and when he reaches the mosque he should take care that the person who is already sitting together should not sit in the middle of them, that is, he should not restrict the space. Then when the Imam gives the sermon and pays attention to it and listens to it quietly, then all his sins will be forgiven by Allah Almighty between this Friday and the next Friday. But ghusl on Friday has also been taught, that is why Friday ghusl is given the status of Sunnah and some people consider it as obligatory.

There is a well-known hadith that if a person performs ablution on the day of Jumu’ah it is sufficient, but if he performs ghusl then ghusl is better. It is understood that while he was delivering the sermon on Friday, when Hazrat Uthman bin Affan entered, Hazrat Umar interrupted his sermon and asked Hazrat Uthman why he was late. He said: I heard the call to prayer. Immediately after performing Wudhu, Hazrat Umar came to the mosque and said: Wudhu only when I have heard from the Messenger of Allah that whoever comes for Friday prayers should perform Ghusl. This seems to be the denial of ‘Uthman.

The ghusl of Jumu’ah is one of the virtuous deeds which there is no sin in leaving. And since it is emphasized in many ahaadeeth, it should be considered as Sunnah. This ruling has become common, which includes married and unmarried people. There is a narration from Abu Hurayrah that he said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Has any of you been unable to have intercourse with his wife every Friday and for that there are two rewards and one reward His own ghusl and the other reward is for his wife’s ghusl. May Allah be our supporter and helper.
